The Last Oath is the first installment of the Canon storyline.

Joenie his band of fighters are declared the victors of war and consequently Joenie is crowned King. After a grisly coronation Joenie assigns his fellow soldier, Thatcher, as his captain of the guard and Thatcher swears an oath to stay by his side. Both day and night.

With a new monarch in the region, the neighboring kingdoms are quick to offer up daughters to the new king in hopes of creating a powerful ally. However Joenie has no interest in marrying he surrenders to his obligations and simply chooses the first lady to arrive - Janika. He is betrothed to her but his duty doesn't require them to get along, so he simply gives her space to roam the now desolate halls of the castle.

In an effort to cheer up the lonely princess, Thatcher makes an effort to befriend and entertain her. He brings her gifts and says they are from the king but quietly they both know that's not true.

As their time together progresses, Joenie, Thatcher and Jani fall into a happy dynamic, but happiness can only last so long when the Goddess of War has other plans for Joenie.
